Frequently Asked Questions

I only want my Labrador to be a much loved family pet. Why should we buy from a show/exhibition breeder?

Our motivation for breeding is to produce the best possible Labradors and Golden Retrievers that we will be proud to exhibit in the show ring. This means we use only the best quality, titled and health tested dogs available. This ensures you get a pet that has the true Labrador/ Golden Retriever temperament and looks like a well-bred, beautiful Labrador or Golden Retriever.

Most of our dogs have attained their championship title in the show ring. This means an independent person (the judge) has evaluated that our dogs look and act as the breed is supposed to look and act and deem them “champion” representatives of the breed.

Remember this is a companion that will spend the next 12-14 years with you and your family. Waiting for the right Labrador from the right breeder is well worth it.

When do puppies go to their new homes and what do you provide

Puppies go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age.  All our puppies have pedigree papers and are registered on the limited register. Puppy goes to its new home with a pack of detailed information regarding its diet, exercise, vaccination, grooming and other requirements. They will also receive six weeks free pet insurance and a toy/blanket that smells like their mum.

Do we choose our puppy?

Where possible, we are happy to allow you to choose your puppy. This depends on how many puppies there are in the litter and your position on our waiting list. When it comes times to choosing your puppy we will tell you a little about each puppy to ensure your puppy’s personality matches the family’s requirements.

I would like to purchase a puppy from Eraky, what are the next steps

If you are interested in obtaining a puppy from Eraky we recommend you contact us as soon as possible to put your name on our waiting list. Our waiting list fills quickly. If we do not have anything available we are usually able to refer you to other reputable breeders that have puppies available.

Do we need to pay a deposit?

Once the puppies are born and we confirm we have a puppy available of your chosen sex and colour a deposit is required for us to “hold” the puppy for you. This deposit is not refunded if you change your mind or find a puppy elsewhere.

What health clearances do your dog’s hold

Our adult dogs hold all relevant health certificates as recommended by the National breed councils. For Labradors this includes hip and elbow certificates, PRA (eye) certificates and Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) certificates. For Golden Retrievers this includes hip and elbow certificates, eye certificates and heart certificates. We supply the new puppy owners with copies of these certificates for the sire and dam and are happy to explain the results to you.

Will my puppy be vaccinated and micro chipped when I pick it up?

Yes, all our puppies will have been micro chipped and will have received their first vaccination before they go to their new homes. They will have been wormed every two weeks from two weeks of age and also receive a thorough vet check at 6 weeks of age.

Do you send puppies interstate?

Yes, we are experienced at sending puppies interstate. We can arrange a suitable flight for your puppy. We will talk to you to understand what you are looking for in terms of temperament and other traits from your puppy. We will then match a suitable puppy from the litter to your family.

Can we visit the puppies, sire and dam?

Yes, we welcome and encourage visits to view our dogs! Visits to view the litter are usually arranged when the puppies are 6 weeks of age. By then puppies have had their first vaccination and we are able to tell the new puppy owners a little bit about each puppy’s temperament. When you visit the litter we will also show you the mother and father (if he lives with us). Visits are by appointment only
